Job DescriptionDescriptionUH Elyria Medical Center 11 Smythe is
a 23 bed inpatient unit that provides care to surgical, medical,
gastrointestinal, wound, end of life, and trauma patients.

Position Summary
To maintain the nursing staff in all areas as well as to deliver
safe efficient age specific nursing care to patient/families.
Essential Functions
- Routinely provide patient care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
- Maintains employee records.
- Identifies needs for and provides Staff education/staff
development.
- Participates in Discharge planning, community resource
referrals, and education.
- Committee involvement, participate in quality improvement
initiatives.
- Oversees daily operations of unit/area in a cost-effective
manner.
- Involved in Community outreach activities as pertinent
Initiates and maintains positive relationships with
patients/customers and co-workers.
- Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a
learning environment.
- Displays commitment to the mission and values of the
organization.

- Complies with all policies and standards.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain
Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual
training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are
in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
QualificationsQualifications
Education
- (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing Required
- (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date
Required or
- (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date
Required
Work Experience
- 1+ years clinical experience Required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent
communication skills both written and verbal, as well as,
exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic.

- Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to
patients/customers. Required
- Demonstrated ability to handle high pressure situations with
professionalism and integrity. Required
- Knowledge of current technology and equipment to meet patient
needs and prescribed medical therapies Required
- PC and computer applications Required
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio Required
and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Additional Licenses and Certifications
- Certification in a specialty clinical area or leadership within
2 years required and
- ALS & PALS may be required based on area's requirements
